Maersk starts calls at Fuzhou container terminal

Maersk's Asia-Europe shipping lane AE9 has started calling at south eastern China's Fuzhou International Container Terminal (FICT), Xinhua reports.
The AE9 deploys nine ships ranging from 6,250 to 7,250 TEU, offering a weekly capacity of 7,050 TEU, representing about 10 per cent of the total capacity of Maersk's Asia-Europe capacity.

Zim to Hike Rates on India-Europe Trades

Zim Integrated Shipping Services will raise its rates on services between the Indian subcontinent and North Europe, starting April 1.
The planned increase on westbound cargo from the Indian subcontinent to North Europe, the Mediterranean (including Israel) and the Black Sea region will be $200 per 20-foot container.
Rates on the eastbound trade will go up by $150 per 20-foot container.

Perhaps emboldened by Maersk’s lead last month, which was supported by the other big boys Mediterranean Shipping Co and CMA-CGM, more lines are starting to try their luck with rate increases.

Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) will increase westbound Asia-Europe rates by $450 per teu from April 1 for shipments from the Far East (including Japan), Indian subcontinent, and Middle East to North Europe, the Mediterranean and Black Sea.
