Hapag, Mitsui OSK set to increase freight rates

From March 15, Germany's Hapag-Lloyd and Japan's Mitsui OSK Line will increase the rates by $150 a TEU on all shipments from the Far East (excluding Japan ) to the Indian sub-continent covering India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, according to shipping industry sources. 
The increase, according to carriers, has become necessary to cover costs and to maintain service quality. 
Maersk starts calls at Fuzhou container terminal

Maersk's Asia-Europe shipping lane AE9 has started calling at south eastern China's Fuzhou International Container Terminal (FICT), Xinhua reports.
The AE9 deploys nine ships ranging from 6,250 to 7,250 TEU, offering a weekly capacity of 7,050 TEU, representing about 10 per cent of the total capacity of Maersk's Asia-Europe capacity.

Zim to Hike Rates on India-Europe Trades

Zim Integrated Shipping Services will raise its rates on services between the Indian subcontinent and North Europe, starting April 1.
The planned increase on westbound cargo from the Indian subcontinent to North Europe, the Mediterranean (including Israel) and the Black Sea region will be $200 per 20-foot container.
Rates on the eastbound trade will go up by $150 per 20-foot container.
