OOCL, MOL increase box rates

Perhaps emboldened by Maersk’s lead last month, which was supported by the other big boys Mediterranean Shipping Co and CMA-CGM, more lines are starting to try their luck with rate increases.

Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) will increase westbound Asia-Europe rates by $450 per teu from April 1 for shipments from the Far East (including Japan), Indian subcontinent, and Middle East to North Europe, the Mediterranean and Black Sea.

MOL to Open New Singapore-Yangon Service: “SYX”

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. yesterday announced the opening of the new route “SYX” linking Singapore and Yangon starting on March 17. 
MOL will offer a twice a week joint service with RCL. The service is operated by 3 vessels (T/R 10.5 days) and MOL will provide one ship MV MOL Acclaim. 
CMA CGM Raises Rates Again on India-Europe Service

CMA CGM imposed a general rate increase on westbound cargo moving on its Epic service from India to North Europe and the Mediterranean, the French carrier’s second GRI in a month and the third this year.
Effective April 2, the new increase on dry and refrigerated shipments will be $150 per 20-foot container and $300 per 40-foot container.
